Sage Learns to Share is Ms. Irwin most recent release. A rich, warm and beautifully- illustrated book, Sage Learns to Share reminds children of the importance of friendship and sharing while delightfully entertaining them with an engaging, yet easy to understand story. Children like stories about dogs, and youngsters will relate to Sage's feelings as she learns to share her home and family with a new dog.

Gayle Irwin has woven a beautiful parable about friendship, sharing, and acceptance in her latest book Sage Learns to Share. Although the story focuses on the reluctant friendship of a blind dog with her new housemate, I can think of several human scenarios where this story would apply; a differently-abled child with a “normal” sibling; an adopted child and a “biological” child; and any other relationship where one party feels inadequate but discovers that true friendship can blossom despite differences. The story is written in simple language that children can understand, and is richly illustrated with beautiful color artwork. It held my son’s attention while teaching a valuable life lesson.
